In Conferences.

The second day also offered interesting talks on coreboot not least due to an excellent hangout connection to participants from the USA.

The Hangouts

David Hendricks (Google) presented on "Linux as Bootloader", an approach advantageous e.g. for systems with non-trivial device driver requirements early in th eboot process.

Then Ron Minnich (Google) highlighted "u-root: A Go-based, Firmware Embeddable Root File System with On-demand Compilation"

Again David Hendricks introduced "Flashrom", a tool for reading and writing of flash chips.

Out of the conference location Bonn Vladimir Serbinenko then reported about his just completed coreboot port für den MacBook Air.

Much to my regret I could not participate in saturday afternoon's excursion. On sunday an additional day followed primarily intended for development activities.

Conclusion

Overall and from my amateurish point of view I enjoyed the conference pretty much and felt it to be quite informative. Should it come again to Bonn I expect to visit it once again.
